Assistant attorney and junior legal advisor
Learn and grow with us by your side
At Plesner, you build your career in an environment of ambition, close teamwork, and high professional standards. We are ambitious and we set high expectations for each other, while also allowing you space and room to grow. We know that most Assistant Attorneys/Junior Legal Advisors are excited and maybe a bit nervous starting out. Therefore, we make sure we are fully prepared to welcome you. It is our priority that you quickly feel comfortable in your new position and at home amongst your new colleagues.
On your first day of employment, you'll be greeted by your buddy, who will introduce you to your team and help you settle in. You will also be provided with a talent developer who will assist you throughout your time as Assistant Attorney or Junior Legal Advisor, helping you with tasks and practical questions.
Asking questions is key to your development
Use your talent developer and your colleagues, ask questions, and learn from their knowledge and experience. As a newcomer, we expect you to spend more time completing your tasks than more experienced Assistant Attorneys and advisors. This is only natural, and truthfully, we hope you will take your time when given a task. You can also expect from us that we will take our time to provide you with feedback, ensuring your continued development. It is in both our interests that you set the pace and also decide to take a break and ask questions whenever needed.
We prioritize hiring graduates but also hire more experienced profiles.
Relaxed, dedicated and ambitious, but it also varies across different teams.
It is up to you. You may rotate between our teams and sectors, allowing you to explore different practice areas and develop your legal talent.
As an Assistant Attorney, you follow Plesner’s Assistant Attorney program, which includes the requirements of the The Danish Bar and Law Society (Advokatsamfundet). We collaborate with course providers and experienced instructors.
As a Junior Legal Advisor with a cand.merc.(jur.), you have the opportunity to participate in the Education for Legal Advisors, which focuses on the development of your fundamental skills as a legal advisor within a law firm.
You will be invited for an interview, which will include a brief personality test to be completed at home. The interview will last approximately one hour, during which you will receive further information about the next steps.
We strive to provide our clients with the best service, which may occasionally require overtime. As an Assistant Attorney/Junior Legal Advisor or a lawyer/Legal Advisor you can expect to work an average of 45 hours per week. However, mutual flexibility is a key value at Plesner. Working hours may vary more in teams primarily engaged in project-based work.
As a lawyer or Legal Advisor, you have the opportunity to be seconded to a company either domestically or internationally. Secondments typically last for a period of six months, but arrangements can be made on an individual basis.
Learning through practice
Let's be frank: At Plesner, we work ambitiously and with passion for our profession. However, we also listen, provide feedback, and engage in discussions about your development, ensuring the best possible framework for you.
When you begin your job as an assistant attorney or junior legal advisor at Plesner, you will be assigned to a team, a partner, and a talent developer who will monitor your professional and personal development. During your employment, you will have the opportunity to explore several practice areas. The rotation from one practice area to the next is flexible, allowing you to use your time with us to discern your true passion.
We don't expect you to master every angle of law from day one. Quite contrary, we see your employment as an assistant attorney or junior legal advisor as educational - a time where you advance your legal skills and understanding of business and strategy. Your initial tasks will be less complex and will gradually become more comprehensive, as you grow. We monitor your learning curve, ensuring that you gradually and confidently develop and you will at all times receive assistance in your tasks - regardless of your seniority as an assistant attorney/junior legal advisor.
