AIP raises EUR 2 billion in first closing of fifth energy transition fund

Case News
Danish infrastructure asset manager AIP Management has raised EUR 2 billion from investors following the first closing of its latest clean energy infrastructure fund. The fifth flagship to be launched by AIP, it debuted in March 2025 and is actively fundraising from global, institutional investors towards a target of EUR 3 billion.

AIP is a Denmark-based asset manager specialising in investments in energy infrastructure and is owned by Storebrand, PKA, Pensam and partners in AIP. Following the acquisition by Storebrand of more than 50% of the management company, the AIP-platform forms part of the Storebrand Asset Management multi-boutique offering as a market leader within sustainable investments. Since its establishment in 2012, AIP has raised approximately EUR 10 billion for investments in 29 renewable energy projects and today employs people around the world with offices in Copenhagen, London, New York and Madrid.

AIP V has already invested in three renewable energy projects in collaboration with industrial partners, including within energy storage. The investments focus on economically sustainable projects with robust return profiles and long-term value creation, while at the same time supporting the transformation of the energy supply.

The majority of the fund’s investments are expected to be made in Europe, where the need for local, stable and independent energy production is increasing.

Plesner's Private Investment Funds team has acted as fund counsel to AIP on the raising of the fund.
