Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners' fifth flagship fund reaches EUR 12 billion in final closing

Case News
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has reached final close on its fifth flagship fund, Copenhagen Infrastructure V, with a total commitment of EUR 12 billion. The fund has attracted substantial interest from a global investor base. Plesner's Private Investment Funds team advised CIP on the fundraising of the fund, in particular in respect of investor negotiations, investor onboarding and regulatory matters.

CIP is the world's largest dedicated fund manager within greenfield renewable energy investments and a global leader in offshore wind, with more than 2500 employees across platforms and projects globally and 14 CIP offices around the world.

Copenhagen Infrastructure V is dedicated to investing in next-generation renewable energy infrastructure and will diversify investments across key technologies, including wind, solar PV, battery storage, and other solutions supporting the energy transition. The fund’s investments will primarily target low-risk OECD markets across Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific region.

The fund has already demonstrated rapid capital deployment, with six final investment decisions taken, committing 60% of the fund’s capital to large-scale renewable energy projects.

Plesner acted as co-counsel to the fund alongside Kirkland & Ellis.
