Plesner advises on the acquisition of 64 REMA 1000 properties

Case News
Plesner has advised a consortium led by VIKA Project Finance in connection with AKA AS, Reitan Eiendom AS and AS Straen's acquisition of 64 Danish retail properties from REMA 1000 Danmark A/S, all of which will be let to REMA 1000 on long-term leases. The transaction has a total value of approximately NOK 2,8bn.

The transaction includes 37 of the properties that REMA 1000 Danmark A/S has acquired from ALDI. The total of 64 properties, which are spread across large parts of Denmark, will be handed over to the buyer side during 2024, with the first phase expected to be handed over in mid-February 2024.

AKA AS, Reitan Eiendom AS and AS Straen own the Danish company DK Retail Invest Holding ApS via the Norwegian company DK Retail Invest AS. AKA AS, which is the lead investor in the consortium on the buyer side, already has a large property portfolio in Norway consisting of 237 properties, but the investment is AKA AS' first investment in Denmark.

The agreement to acquire the portfolio was signed between the parties at the end of 2023.

Plesner assisted the buyer side in relation to structuring, due diligence and negotiation of the contractual basis.

Plesner's core team consisted of Mads Berg, Benjamin Bunnage, Peter Barsøe Østergaard, Nils Svendsen and Emilie Illum Rodam
