UNICEF enters into landmark lease agreement for the new Global Supply Hub in Copenhagen
For decades, Copenhagen has served as the global centre for UNICEF's Supply Division which is responsible for the procurement, storage, packaging and distribution of emergency relief worldwide.
Due to a contemplated redevelopment of the area housing UNICEF's existing storage facilities (UNICEF Campus 2), UNICEF and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have entered into a new long-term lease agreement for a purpose-built Global Supply Hub in Nordhavn, close to UNICEF's current operations.
The new Global Supply Hub will comprise more than 70,000 sqm and include state-of-the-art office and administration facilities, a low-bay warehouse and two fully automatic high-bay warehouses. The facility will significantly expand UNICEF's current storage capacity and strengthen its ability to respond rapidly to humanitarian crises.
The complex will be developed by MT Højgaard for Udviklingsselskabet By & Havn I/S as property owner. The property will be leased to the Danish Building and Property Agency (Bygningsstyrelsen), sublet to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ultimately made available to UNICEF as part of Denmark’s development assistance framework.
The project reinforces Copenhagen’s role as a global humanitarian logistics hub and supports UNICEF’s continued operations and long-standing presence in Denmark.
