Aareal Bank AG entered into a financing agreement for the refinancing of Villa Copenhagen

Aareal Bank AG has entered into a DKK 769 million (€ 103 million) financing agreement under Aareal Bank’s Green Finance Framework for the refinancing of Villa Copenhagen, a trendy hotel owned by Strawberry and situated in the heart of Copenhagen. Plesner advised Aareal Bank AG in connection with the transaction. 

Aareal Bank is a leading provider of financing solutions and services, with a focus on the property industry, including office buildings, hotels, shopping centres or logistics and residential properties, in Europe, North America and Asia/Pacific.

Strawberry (formerly Nordic Choice Hotels) is one of the largest hotel companies in the Nordics, with four major hotel chains – Comfort Hotel®, Quality Hotel™, Clarion Hotel® and Clarion Collection® Hotel – and more than 40 unique independent hotels and is controlled by entrepreneur Petter A. Stordalen.

The owners and operators of Villa Copenhagen have committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (“UN SDG”); rooms are made from recycled or sustainable materials and ecological aspects were also given priority within the planning process of operations, for example, surplus heat from the kitchen is used to warm up the pool on the roof.
