TotalEnergies acquires majority stakes in two Danish offshore wind projects

TotalEnergies has acquired the stakes from European Energy and SONFOR, with SONFOR retaining minority ownership in Lillebælt Syd and European Energy maintaining minority stakes in both projects.

The projects, part of the nine open-door offshore wind projects reaffirmed by the Danish Energy Agency in December 2023, have secured establishment permits. Both projects are expected to become operational in 2029 and generate enough electricity to power approximately 400,000 European households.

Plesner has assisted TotalEnergies throughout all stages of the transaction, including with the drafting and negotiation of transactional and development agreements, along with regulatory and operational assistance through to closing.

Plesner's core team on the transaction included Niklas Korsgaard Christensen, Jakob Schmidt Jensen, and Johannes Wieth-Klitgaard.
