Jimmy Skjold Hansen

Jimmy is ranked as a Leading Partner (Legal 500), focuses on cross-border disputes, and is highly specialised in handling large and complex litigation and arbitration cases in Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands, as well as international arbitrations seated abroad. He also represents clients in investment arbitration cases. Jimmy can take on arbitrations anywhere in the world and also advises clients in relation to local litigation abroad where relevant.

He represents clients before the courts in Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands, including the Supreme Court of Denmark, as well as before the EU courts. Jimmy also represents clients in arbitrations conducted under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC, Paris), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID, Washington), the Danish Institute of Arbitration (DIA), and the SCC Arbitration Institute (SCC), as well as before ad hoc arbitral tribunals, including cases under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules.

Jimmy's broad industry experience spans renewable energy, oil and gas, mining, defence, M&A, IPOs, private equity, alternative investments, banking and finance, telecommunications, IT and other technology, shipping, food and beverages, retail, IP and commercial contracts, with a primary focus on critical infrastructure, defence, energy, mining, technology, and telecommunications. He currently handles the most significant cases concerning expropriation and directors' and officers' (D&O) liability within the Kingdom of Denmark. 

Jimmy holds bachelor's and master's degrees in law from the University of Copenhagen and an LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement from the University of Geneva (Switzerland). As a certified arbitrator in domestic and international cases, he has served as sole arbitrator or co-arbitrator under the ICC, DIA and Luxembourg Arbitration Center rules, and he has worked at a law firm in Geneva, assisting leading international arbitrators on commercial and investment arbitration proceedings.

He sits on the board of the Danish Arbitration Association. Jimmy led the revision process concerning the Association's Rules on the Taking of Evidence in Arbitration (2025), and he was also a member of the task force revising the IBA's Rules on the Taking of Evidence in International Arbitration (2020).
