George Martsekis
George draws on his substantial experience in both international commercial and investment arbitration, as well as public international law matters, in the sectors of energy, banking & finance, gaming and food industry. Prior to joining Plesner, George worked for international law firms in London and Washington DC, as well as for a leading US law firm in New York. In that regard, he obtained hands-on experience mainly in LCIA and ICSID proceedings. In addition, he advised on major M&A transactions and commercial agreements by virtue of his tenure at a leading law firm in Athens, Greece.
Following his graduation from the University of Athens, George earned a LL.M. degree from Queen Mary University of London (merit) and another LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center (awarded with Distinction and Dean's List on a merit-based scholarship).
In October 2023, he successfully defended his PhD thesis, titled "The Functions of Good Faith in International Commercial Arbitration" at the University of Athens (unanimously awarded summa cum laude).
George regularly writes and publishes articles on international arbitration matters.
A qualified attorney before the Court of Appeals (Greece), he speaks English and Greek.
