Søren Lehmann Nielsen
Søren heads the teams involved in some of our most complex litigations. He argued his first case in the Danish Supreme Court more than 20 years ago and has a long track record in all areas of tax litigation, including transfer pricing, VAT, withholding tax, and fundamental principles of tax law, including the GAAR.
He is a trusted advisor who is able to communicate clearly and keep focus on clients' needs in litigation that involves large teams, often in an international setting. The clients include major private enterprises, foundations, authorities, pension funds, and private individuals.
As a member of the tax committee under the Danish Bar and Law Society, Søren comments on draft legislation and draft guidance from the tax authorities. In addition, Søren is a member of the supervisory board of the Danish branch of the International Fiscal Association. He is a former chairman of the Copenhagen Bar Association.
As a team leader, Søren is in charge of foreseeing and responding to the client's needs and making essential strategic decisions, which is a crucial element in litigation.
He strives to provide all clients with a thorough overview of each stage of their litigation while ensuring that each team member is provided with clear objectives and tasks to improve the overall efficiency of the litigation process.
Chambers Europe ranks Søren as a leading individual and has inducted him into the Legal 500 Hall of Fame.
Søren is admitted to the Supreme Court of Denmark, and he holds a Master's degree in law from Aarhus University and has also studied at Durham University in the UK.
