Martin Hjørlund Nielsen
Martin Hjørlund Nielsen is a member of our Corporate Regulatory and Compliance team. He has more than 20 years of experience from a global audit firm specialising in auditing and advisory services on IT and information security, and he was responsible for information security compliance at a large financial business.
Martin particularly advises clients on compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation and assists clients in developing and implementing compliance programmes and specific data protection law initiatives. He has special experience in financial, technology and pharmaceutical businesses, and has specialised in working in the cross field between IT, business, security and law.
Moreover, Martin advises clients on compliance audits on their premises, data processing contracts, big data, HR management, whistle-blower schemes and whistle-blower reports as well as handling applications for the authorities and day-to-day advisory services on data protection law issues of any kind.
Martin also advises clients on marketing law issues, not least data-driven marketing, cookie legislation, e-commerce and Internet law. Finally, Martin also has experience in investigations into and handling of security incidents and data leaks.
At present, Martin is involved in the practical implementation of binding corporate rules (BCR) and similar compliance programmes, including the establishment of technology-supported compliance and security, for various Danish and international businesses.
