Plesner looks forward to welcoming old and new friends for the 4th edition of the Plesner Pre-Moot

Plesner returns with the 4th edition of the Plesner Pre-moot in the spring 2020. The pre-moot, which will take place on 23-24 March 2020 at Plesner's offices in Copenhagen, will serve as a preparation for the 27th annual Vis Moot competition - the world's largest and most prestigious moot court competition in the field of arbitration. During the pre-moot, the participants ("mooties") will have the opportunity to test their legal savvy and advocacy skills and will receive feedback from renowned arbitration practitioners from Denmark and abroad.

Each spring, the international arbitration community gathers in Vienna to take part in the annual William C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vis Moot) as "mooties", coaches and arbitrators. This year, law students from around the globe will be testing their advocacy skills in a mock commercial arbitration concerning questions of ‘potential’ non-conformity and the remedy of replacement under the Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG) in relation to a contract for the delivery of turbines for a pump hydro power plant.

The Vis Moot grows in popularity with each passing year. With teams from 376 institutions and 87 countries participating in the oral arguments in Vienna, 2019 was another record-breaking year for the Vis Moot. As such, the competition plays a significant role in the education and shaping of the dispute resolution practitioners of the future and offers a unique venue for experienced professionals to network and discuss contemporary issues of the trade.

Plesner continuously invests in future generations and wishes to contribute to the development and sharing of knowledge across borders and legal practice areas, including international dispute settlement. Since 2018, Plesner has deepened is engagement in developing tomorrow's practitioners through a cooperation with the University of Copenhagen to coach the university's Vis-Moot team. The 2019/2020 team is composed of hand-picked Masters students who will represent the school of law in several domestic and international pre-moots, as well as the main competition in Vienna.

As the leading Danish law firm in the field of international dispute resolution, Plesner is organizing an international pre-moot for the 4th year running.

Last year, 12 teams from different universities from around the globe were selected to compete at the Plesner Pre-Moot and receive feedback from a large group of international practitioners acting as "arbitrators". Plesner expects to gather at least the same number of students and professionals in 2020, including some old friends of the Plesner Pre-Moot, as well as several "new" teams joining the Plesner Pre-Moot for the very first time.

The pre-moot will take place at Plesner’s offices in Copenhagen on 23-24 March 2020. Here, the students will have opportunity to measure themselves against their peers, refine their arguments and to receive feedback from experienced arbitration practitioners before setting out for Vienna. The Plesner Pre-moot also offers the participating "arbitrators" a unique chance to share their knowledge and experiences with the students and other practitioners in an informal setting.
