Capidea sells Ellepot to Kirk Kapital and Karsten Ree Holding

Danish private equity fund Capidea has agreed to sell Ellepot to a company owned by Kirk Kapital and Karsten Ree Holding. Plesner advised Capidea on the transaction.

Ellepot produces propagation trays, paper, pots and machines for growers. Ellepot is based in Esbjerg, Denmark and supplies more than 120 countries across five continents. 

Following completion of the transaction, Ellepot is planned to merge with PlantPaper, owned by Karsten Ree Holding. PlantPaper also develops and supplies products for growers. 

Capidea focuses on long-term investments in small and medium-sized Danish companies, for instance within distribution and trade. Capidea has a total capital commitment of approximately DKK 2.3bn distributed on three funds.

The transaction is subject to approval by the Danish competition authorities and is expected to close in the second quarter of 2021.
